You have got not only rights but obligations and responsibilities as well.
  • If you have a TV, you have to pay a TV licence (at post office) www.tvlicensing.co.uk
  • To pay all your bills: phone, water, electricity, gas, council tax.
  • To check with local council about refuse disposal: When it is collected, and if you missed collection you should collect it back.
  • Children shouldn’t be left alone at home. It is not against the law to leave a child unattended at any age but it is against the law to leave children in circumstances which put them in any kind of danger. So, for example, leaving a young child alone for several hours could place them in physical danger and emotional harm through loneliness and fear.
  •  You have a duty to report if you noticed or suspecting the child abuse. Phone free, 24-hour Child Protection Helpline on 0808 800 5000, or contact your local social services or police.

  • If you are a witness or a victim of a crime, it is important you report it to the police. www.report-it.org.uk
    you must be 18 years old to buy alcohol in the UK
    you must be 16 years old to buy tobacco
    you must be 16 years old before you may have sex with a consenting partner (also over 16 years old).
    Racial harassment: attacks, insults, persecutions because of anyone age, disability, race, nationality religion or belief and sexual orientation is illegal in the UK.
    It is illegal to carry with you a gun: including a pocket knife.

Fishing

  • To fish for coarse fish, the fishing season runs from 16th June to the 16th March, the remaining 3 months are what is known as the close season when it is illegal to fish.
    You will need a rod licence from the Environment Agency, which costs £24.00 (£5.00 for juniors) and can be bought online at
    http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/subjects/fish/399730/?lang=_e  by ringing 0870 1662 662, or going to any Post Office.
    You will also need a license for the local fishing club waters in which you need to fish, these can be obtained from local fishing tackle shops, as well as any further information you may require about local waters.
    The information about rod licenses and club licenses is for freshwater rivers and drains, you do not need a license to fish in salt water, that means rivers that are tidal, and the sea.You can take fish home from the sea, but not fresh water fish, they must be returned alive.
